The Difference Between Assisted Living and Memory Care
Unsure what level of care your loved one needs? We break down the key differences between standard assisted living and specialized memory care.

When evaluating senior living options, two of the most common terms you will hear are "Assisted Living" and "Memory Care." While they may seem similar from the outside, they cater to very different needs.
Assisted Living is designed for seniors who are largely independent but need a little extra help with daily activities. This might include medication management, help with dressing, or meal preparation. Residents in assisted living enjoy their own private apartments, social activities, and the freedom to come and go as they please, with the safety net of 24/7 support.
Memory Care, on the other hand, is a highly specialized environment specifically for seniors living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. These communities feature enhanced security to prevent wandering, specialized architectural layouts to reduce confusion, and staff trained specifically in dementia care.
